Mr. Reginald “Toby” Cyril Dillas, died peacefully in Sarasota, Florida on Sunday, October 26, 2014, after a brief illness, at the age of 76.
Toby is survived by his wife, Lauren Chatham Dillas; children, Sharon Burgess, Kamala Dillas-Lobban and Jason Dillas; step-children, Maria Jung, Jaci Boyd (Ken), Susan Bly (Michael) and Uriah Petersen (Carrie); siblings, Dianne Simons, Patricia Mejias (Pedro), Cleveland Dillas, Melvin Dillas (Eva), Carolann Burrows (Edward), and Gary Dillas; eight grandchildren; one great grandchild; pets, Suki and Bella; special cousins Ivan (Carolyn) Burgesson and Senator Joan (Roy) Dillas-Wright and special friends Victor (Evelyn) Cann, Gary (Tricia) Phillips, C.V. Jim Woolridge, David Dodwell, John Harvey, Garth (Laurie) Pedro, Arthur Mills, Paul Zar, Calvin “Bummy” (Valerie) Symonds, David (Barbara) Lambert, former NYC Mayor David (Joyce) Dinkins, Cecil “Junks” (Deana) Durham, Clyde Darrell, Michael King, Bob “Fitzie” King, Phillip (Rosalind) Butterfield, Dr. Ewart (Wanda) Brown, Sylvia Smith, Quinton “Heads” (Laquita) Astwood, The Bermuda Hotel Association Family, The Bermuda Department of Tourism Family, El Capitaine Family and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends too many to list. He is preceded in death by his mother Edith Marion Dillas.Two memorial services are scheduled as follows:In Sarasota the memorial service is scheduled for Friday, November 7, 2014, 2pm at Toale Brothers Colonial Chapel, 40 North Orange Ave. Sarasota, FL 34236, Minister Margaret Myhre will officiate the ceremony. A family reception will follow at Leeroy Selmon’s, 8253 Cooper Creek Blvd, Sarasota.In Bermuda the memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, November 13, 2014, 11am at St. John’s Anglican Church.Family and friends are encouraged to attend the service of their choice and celebrate Toby’s life.
